BlogReally's Top Ten Reasons Barack Obama Will Be Our Next President

The Really: Top Ten Reasons Why Barack Obama Will REALLY Be Our Next President

10. Barack Obama probably lies a little bit less then John McCain.

9. Even Republicans are scared of what Sarah Palin might do if she were President.

8. John McCain said in a Town Hall Meeting last month "My fellow Terrorists" (Freudian slip perhaps...?)

7. 1/2 Black men are less scary then 72 year old white men with P.T.S.D. even when their middle name is Hussein.

6. Republicans have taken a note out of the Democrats book and royally screwed up an election they could have won easily.

5. If a call comes in at 3AM to the White House, who do you think will actually be able to wake up and function? DUH

4. If you thought the Rodney King Riots were bad...

3. Even my 91 year old, white as rice, raised in the segregated south and occasionally calls a black person ...... Grandma is voting for Barack.

2. Sarah Palin would miss her view of Russia too much and move the US Capitol to Wasilla, Alaska

and last but not least....

1. Who could resist saying they voted for "THAT ONE"

Can McCain Play College Hoops If He Loses Election?

The Really: Really? A 73 year old man makes it on to Division 1 college basketball team? Yes, really!

With this breaking news we think that Senator John McCain (72) has a good shot at making it on to at least a Division 2 or 3 team if the whole President thing doesn't work out.

GOP Says Obama Has Already Won Election

The Really: Has the GOP really proclaimed that the 2008 Presidential Election winner is Barack Obama?

In a recent television ad launched by the Republican Party there seems to be an admission of loss to the Democrats in the Presidential Election. The ad goes on to say that the GOP and its constituents need to concentrate on election races they can win so that the Democrats don't have a full House of Representatives, Senate, and White House.

Is this the beginning of the end for the GOP? Will the Democrats turn the U.S. into an evil Socialist country? Tune in tomorrow for the next episode of "As The Election Turns..."

Obama Up 10 Points In Polls... Or Is He?

The Really: Is Senator Barack Obama really this close to sealing up the 2008 Presidential Election or is this just another Democratic blunder waiting to happen?

Depending on the channel (CNN, FOX, MSNBC) or the Poll (AP, CNN/ABC. NY Times), Senator Barack Obama is up 10 points or only 1. Personally, I don't believe in polls. Polls, just like the humans who conduct them, are inherently flawed. I will know who won the election when the other guy has called in and conceded the election. Even then I will still be suspicious but I will at least feel like I can stop watching the news 25 hours a day.

It's crazy. I know that when I turn on the TV I will see the same thing I saw that morning and even a week ago. I will hear pro this and con that on everything they can think of. Yet, I still turn on that TV and fall asleep to it. I ask myself, what am I waiting for? Do I really expect to hear something different? No, I am just a plain old addict, what can I say... So instead of fighting it, I will overdose on it until the cows come home on November 5th.

Today I dropped my mail-in ballot in the mailbox. It felt good to vote for something and someone I believed in. All I will say is that I hope enough of the Electorial College feels the same as I do. It should be interesting to say the least.

2008 Election: The Most Amazing Race

The Really: Is this 2008 Presidential Election really this important?

In a word, Yes...

I have not been around for many elections, but in my lifetime none have captured me, my country or the world for that matter like this one has. There seems to be so much at stake this time. The War on Terror, the economy is in shambles and the very real possibility of appointing the next 2 Supreme Court Justices during the next 4 years. The difference between this election and others is that these are real issues this time and we are going to need a super hero to fix them. The issues the candidates are debating about are make or break issues right now. In the past, candidates would talk about health care or social security maybe raising or not raising taxes. That is great and all but we were going to be alight for the most part. Now, if our economy does not get fixed 95% of us are really stand to be in deep s***. If we don't patch up our relations with countries, especially in the middle east, the September 11th attacks could just be the beginning.

The last 6 years have seen unprecedented spending by both the federal government and its citizens, horrible foreign policy decisions and just an overall loss in our standing as the #1 country in the world.

When you couple this with the fact that either party will make history (first African American president or first woman as vice president) when voted into office; this is what makes this election so special. Either candidate will have more then 4 years worth of work on the first day of their presidency. Either candidate will be remembered as the one that brought our country out of its biggest hole yet, or the candidate that dug us deeper in that hole.

As we head to the polls this year lets remember some key things. These two candidates are both great men. They have both worked their entire lives to protect and serve our country as best they know how. Even though they will go about it in different ways, both candidates believe they have the country's best interests at heart. I don't know if you can say that about our current administration but my gut feeling is that you can say that about the next one.

I have my opinions as I am sure you all have yours. Let us all try to keep our eyes, ears and mouths on the task at hand, working together to bring this country back to life. As much as I disagree with some of the choices made on our behalf in Washington, I am fortunate to be an American. I have the opportunity, the right, to share my thoughts and feelings with millions of people all over the world and that is more then many can say.

Obama And McCain Jib and Jab At 4 Million Dollar Dinner

The Really: Barack Obama took some long overdue shots at John McCain and his short comings. They were really funny too...

When I heard John and Barack lambaste one another all in the name of fun last night hopefully I was not the only one that got some much needed relief from the regular stump speeches. What I find really funny is that each candidate were able to make some major digs at one another as well as themselves. From Mad Magazine ears to jokes about McCain knowing people during the prohibition, the jokes just didn't stop. I thought the slams were fairly delivered and I also think that the writers of the humor (certainly not McCain or Obama) did some of the best work that either of the two candidates have read to a crowd in 12 months.

McCain presented first and came out swinging with Obama following up and delivering a flurry of shots that he had not delivered personally yet. This was the time and the place for Barack Obama to bring some issues such as age to light. Whether you like him or not, Obama has withstood pot shot after pot shot from both McCain and Palin directly. While Obama's campaign has certainly fought back and taken their share of opportunities to expose McCain's flaws; Obama has never really delivered any punches with the gloves off until last night.

Overall, I thought last night was a good night off from serious politics and stupid campaign tricks. I am still watching some of the clips because they were REALLY that funny. Enjoy!

The Most Important Election Of Our Time

The Really: Be a clown. Funny faces from the most important election of our time. We had to go back in history to get Obama's funny face but McCain and Palin are constantly giving us material.

Obama called "Grace Under Pressure"

The Really: Barack Obama stayed calm, cool and collected while John McCain went for the HailMary and really got intercepted!

With Barack Obama having a double digit lead (in some polls) his plan was to stay the course, keep to the issues and dispel some rumors. John McCain on the other hand needed to change this campaign, be clear and steal this debate. Senator McCain did not steal this debate and to his dismay he may have lost more ground. McCain was very scattered with his line of thinking, was not very clear and concise and when we tried to attack Senator Obama, Obama was able to defend himself well.

McCain did seem more alive tonight but I believe his fall from grace over the past month is only going to hurt that much harder when November 4th comes around. Unless McCain can explain to a few hundred million people why Joe The Plumber should be his new running mate I believe we will have our first black president. McCain's Hail Mary attempt at winning this debate came up an incomplete pass...

And The Winner Is...

Obama "The Arab" Can't Be Trusted?

The Really: The Republicans have really done a bang up job at educating their constituents.

At one of John McCain's now INfamous Town Hall meetings he got booed by his crowd. A woman from the audience at a Town Hall meeting in Minnesota said Barak Obama could not be trusted because he was an Arab. John McCain stood there looking stunnded and saddened by what he had just heard. For one of the first times in this race it seems that the nasty tatics had caught up with him and you coudl see it all over his face. Well you get what you put of there John "The Maverick" McCain and what you have put out there is misinformation and fear during your bid for the presidency. The one redeeming part of this entire fiasco was that John McCain swallowed his pride and corrected the woman. When he said Barak Obama was a "decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States." you could hear boos from the crowd. The sad part of this story isn't the fact that this happened today, it is the fact that this type of ignorance happens everyday and the candidates do nothing to clear the air until it is too late. Shame Shame Shame, we know your name!

I am not quite sure how you can have one of the most pathetic and disgusting moments in American history along with one of the most redeeming but it happened today. And we wonder why some people dislike Americans?

My Fellow Prisoners

The Really: I thought I heard him say, "My fellow prisoners" today during this speech, but I thought I must be mistaken. The clarification from Gawker. Yes, that one.

Out With The Old, In With The ...

The Really: Does John McCain really stand a chance against the poster boy for Hope?

Both candidates were perched up on that stage for 90 minutes. Both candidates stood fast and continued to secure their party's vote. Both candidates hemmed and hawed at what the other said at times but both candidates did not come out equal. I stand neither right or left, nor right of left but what I saw tonight, what we all saw tonight if we chose to watch with objective eyes was a stark difference between our two candidates. It wasn't white and black, it wasn't Democrat or Republican; it was old versus new. It didn't have as much to do with age as it had to do with aging ideas.

No one in their right or left mind for that matter will stand up and say that Barak Obama is totally different then everyone else in Washington. No one will tell you he doesn't like a little earmark here and there. No one is even saying that his plans for health care or getting our economy on back on track are totally original and outstanding. What you will hear is that he seems the most "with it." That Barak seems to have his finger on the pulse of the MAJORITY more so then Senator McCain. To this I cannot disagree. Barak is certainly a politician, however, in this case one home is better then 9 and two cars are better then twelve.

Our economy will not be fixed on the laurels of John McCain's time in a POW camp. Terrorism will not subside because Sarah Palin can see Russia from her deck (and she can't). There will be more.

2nd Presidential Debate Clear Lines Drawn

The Really: Meg Whitman would be McCain's choice for Secy. of the Treasury?

This is the largest block of time many have ever seen John McCain. Maybe it would be called ageism but how could anyone not see a wandering old man given to odd phrases: "Not you Tom!", or pointing at Obama,"That one." Also how during the greatest economic disaster of most people's lifetime he suggested the head of where people sell stuff to raise cash fast for the cabinet is a mystery.

The lines were drawn and they were clear. Young and full of hope. Old and maybe not quite all there. The inclusive message of Obama and the "Let me continue to serve" message of McCain. Which man looked most Presidential? Depends on how you see the country over the next four years.

Don't Take The Gloves Off Sen. McCain, You'll Get Cold

The Really: The gloves come off tonight.

According to a comment to a voter last week, McCain says the gloves will come off Tuesday. That would be tonight. Now, here is something that sucks worse than negative campaigning: life is sometimes unfair.

McCain ,who suffered incredible torture as a POW during the Vietnam War, has lost movement in certain parts of his body. One arm can't be raised too high and it is literally impossible for him to use a keyboard. This is horrible and this sucks. Also McCain is in his seventies. Getting old sucks, we know.

The problem is when McCain gets mad or "demonstrative" his movements seem jerky, creaky. It may be because of the injuries or it may be because he is just...old. Either way, when McCain gets mad he looks like a crazy old guy screaming, "Get off my lawn." He should not get mad. He should leave the gloves on. He should be statesmanlike. That is how we like our olds. Of course given the way things are going, Obama should just be himself.

The Angriest Man

The Really: Is John McCain really just an angry old man? Is Sarah Palin just a pit-bully?

On This Week with George Stephanopoulos a visibly perturbed George Will (the Cubs lost all three of their playoff games and will once again NOT win the World Series) stated that "America does not elect angry men as leaders." No friend of the pick of Sarah Palin as VP, Will does hold an honored place in the pantheon of conservative commentators so when he says "angry" will not play and pit-bullyness will not win, one has to take it to heart.

The smeary, angry and super-neg week that is now upon us got off to a good start when Sarah Palin accused Obama of "palling around" with Weatherman bomber boy Bill Ayers even though he has been rehabilitated and even forgiven by the son of Richard Daley, the current Mayor for Life of Chicago: Dickie Daley.

Ian Speigelman at Gawker has a nice piece on the sophisticated neg McCain is capable of which is both angry and amusing.
But rather than try to point out the how badly the "Ayers" connection will not hunt in this race, it is instructive that the last time America suffered through a long term economic crisis (and this one looks to have legs) it was the calm reassurance from the fireside chat of FDR that got America through, and resembles the current calm, even Presidential demeanor of Barack Obama.

Maybe the McCain campaign has to go super-neg (even against his own desire not to engage in this kind of politics) but is there any other choice at this point?

McCain Feels The Pain So They "Change The Subject"

The Really: Here we go again with another example of how our political candidates try to be elected on scare tactics, fear mongering, and really stupid attacks on their opponent rather then talk about what they will do to help the country.

And yes Jack, we really can handle the truth...

For once I would really like to see a political campaign run 100% on the merits of the candidate vying for office. Time and time again when a candidate wants to be elected or look good, they point out the supposed faults of their opponent. Well here is the problem with that, their views are obviously tainted. Rarely and I mean RARELY will they even state true facts to support their outlandish claims about their opponent.

I think the public deserves a break from this crap. I believe that we are all intelligent enough to do our own critical thinking. I believe that if candidates would just give us some "straight talk" about themselves, give us some real facts about what they have done and what their intentions are; that we would be able to make a sound choice about who we wanted to align ourselves with. Would one of these presidential candidates please stand up and get elected on their own merits, not the demerits of their opponent. And one more thing if either of you can handle it, would you please save us from having to listen to your bottom ticket pit bulls talk nonsense about the top of the other ticket.

The TRUTH is that Sarah Palin has no idea what John McCain has done or what kind of a maverick he really is. The TRUTH is that she can't quote any other Supreme Court cases. The TRUTH is that she doesn't know much about running a country or a minor league hockey team for that matter.

And now you Joe... The TRUTH is that Joe Bidin did say he didn't think Barak Obama was qualified to be the President of The United States. The TRUTH is that he misstated John McCain's record on voting when it comes to the budget at the Vice Presidential Debate. The TRUTH is that Joe is just as much a part of the Good Old Boys Club as any other Senator who has been there for 30 plus years and that does not lend itself to changing how things are being done in the Government.

You want my vote Barak, you want my vote John, you want my vote Joe, you want my vote Sarah, how about just being honest! Tell us what you have done in life that you regret. Tell us that you made some crappy choices along the way but you have learned and moved forward. Tell us that you will really listen and respond to what you hear. Tell us that you will make mistakes again in life but you will do your best to be honest and open at all times. Stand up their naked and say "This is who I am." I wouldnt have half the disdain for politics as I do if someone up there would just show us enough respect to actually talk to us straight. All the candidates tell us constantly that they know how we feel. Really? Do you get talked around everyday of your life by the people who are supposed to represent your best interests? I dont think so.

TELL US THE TRUTH!
